School Health Strengthening Project

"We support the operation of school health rooms and strengthen teachers’ capacities to improve overall school health systems."

From 2021 to 2023, Hope is Education implemented the School Health Capacity Building Project with the support of the Community Chest of Korea in Northern Uganda to strengthen primary schools’ capacity for health education and management.

  • Enhancing teachers’ capacity in basic health and ICT skills.

  • Improving school health facilities by establishing health rooms with separate beds for boys and girls, counseling spaces, and changing rooms for girls.

  • Building a student health database to ensure more effective and sustainable health management.

As a result, teachers gained stronger awareness and practical skills in health and ICT, and students benefited from improved access to essential health facilities. After the project ended, schools were linked with local health centers and provided with health education manuals to ensure long-term sustainability of the outcomes.
